The restless newyorker

So I wrote this book

I adore this cover — even if it breaks my heart. It will always be my baby Ellise’s forever memory.💔

Thank you for making it possible for this book to be born at my dream publishing house, with people who cared for it as fiercely as I did.

I wrote this book in solitude in the Hungarian countryside, in Budapest, Paris, Germany, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, and I finished it in NYC. As I wrote, I wasn’t only journeying through the depths of my soul — I was physically wandering too, crossing borders and time zones in search of a place I could finally call home.

In a nutshell, it’s about fear. It opens doors into the hidden corners of my life — and your life — places where only the closest people have ever been allowed in, if anyone at all.

Árpi asked me once: What are the five core messages of this book? Five things you want every reader to know before they even open it. So now I’m sharing them with you too — something to hold on to while we wait for the book to arrive.

1. You don’t have to defeat or control fear to live a joyful, meaningful life. You can be afraid and still be hungry for life, you can create, celebrate, and love all at the same time.

2. Fear is not your enemy, but it’s not your friend either. We’re not joining the self-help b*llshit cult. This is science — translated into human language. I’ll help you understand what happens inside you when fear takes over, and I’ll teach you how to navigate it step by step, with concrete exercises you can start using immediately.

3. A psychologist with anxiety is not a contradiction. With raw honesty and without taboos, I show you exactly how I handle my own challenges —that’s where the real value for you lies.

4. This book will be your steady companion in taming sleepless nights. I wrote it for you if you’ve ever walked into a room with damp palms. If you’ve ever stared at the ceiling, frozen. If you’ve ever thought of the perfect comeback only after the moment passed because your mind locked up. If you know the sound of the clock ticking in the dark. If you’ve ever turned the volume all the way up just to drown your own thoughts.
I wrote every word for you, picturing your face as I wrote, creating a connection through words so that, even if it’s just for a second, we both feel seen and less alone.

5. If it feels like the world is burning around you, it barely matters whether the fire is real or your senses are tricking you.
We’re living through times where so much is happening beyond our control. Many feel the world is on fire and losing its mind.
If you have even one tiny patch of ground where you can stand — even on one foot — I’ll teach you how to stand firmly, without wavering. Even if the flames rise around you. And then I’ll teach you how to test whether you can place your other foot down too — to feel safer, steadier — without burning yourself.

Until the book lands in your hands, you can head to the newsstands or listen to our Futurotheca podcast episode.

Hungarian version is available for pre-order HERE, and it’s out on Monday, 24th November 2025.
