The restless newyorker

Are you obsessed?

Obsession is more valuable than talent. Talent can lead to overconfidence and carelessness, making you believe you can do anything without consequences. Obsession represents dedication and humility. It’s wanting it more than anyone else, more than everyone, at any cost, no matter what it takes.

You may be talented, yes, but are you obsessed? Do you ever think about anything else? Then stop.

Focus solely on your goal-the one you want to reach. Measure every step by one question: does it bring you closer to where you want to go? Consider yourself talented if you like, but be obsessed, willing to do anything in pursuit of your purpose.

Don’t tell me you want it, show me you ache for it, show me the fire that won’t let you sleep, the hunger that makes everything else taste like ash. Show me how you’re already sprinting barefoot across the coals, while others strategize their next safe step. Show me how you’re swallowing your fear like a final meal. Show me the moments a part of you wanted to quit, but didn’t, because you stomped that part out like it wasn’t even yours, like it was an intruder in your body, and you crushed it so completely that not even a tiny seed of doubt could survive.

This is the difference. The talented wait for the right time, but the obsessed make it right with their own blood if it’s needed.

There is an unbearable beauty in not stopping, and only the obsessed see it. For them, everything is clear, obvious. There is the path, and the only direction is forward. While the talented stand frozen, blinded by the lights, distracted by their own reflection, the obsessed are already moving.

The talented want the world to say yes, the obsessed already have.

When you’re obsessed, you don’t need motivation, you don’t need clarity, you don’t need someone to remind you why you started, no need to rethink about your why, because it never left, it never stops, it’s in your bloodstream, it’s in your spine, it whispers in the silence and screams when you try to rest. Talent needs breaks and applause; obsession only needs results.

Only the obsessed know the feeling when the world is burning, and you just walk straight through the flames. That feeling when every cell in your body aligns with one direction, and nothing, nothing, can pull you off course.

Let them fear the fire. You make the burn the proof, the proof you’re on the right path, exactly where you’re meant to be.
